Here's hoping
07.27.04 (12:03 am)   [edit]
Can't post a link here, because the story is not in the online edition. But today I read an interview with dippy fluff thespette Toni Collette in the Feral. She said something along these lines: "If Howard gets in again I think I'm going to slit my wrists."

Wouldn't it be great if they all said that (and meant it). Then Howard would win in landslide. And just imagine the quiet after the election...

Ah, bliss.

Abortion doco
07.11.04 (6:00 pm)   [edit]
Here's an excellent article by Melinda Tankard Reist on that controversial doco showing an
abortion being performed
.

The piece reveals some of the creepier tribal activities of the twisted sisterhood and contains a brilliant line describing the ambivalent position of the (pro-choice) doco maker:

"She wants to have her fetus and abort it too."

Shark attack
07.10.04 (6:21 pm)   [edit]
Just read of a fatal shark attack at a popular surfing spot "down south" in WA. When I was a whippersnapper I surfed there many times. The only dorsal fins I ever saw there were those of dolphins, thankfully.

Reminds me of another WA shark attack a few years ago. It occurred at Cottesloe, one of the most popular beaches in Perth. The beach is chockas with swimmers of all ages right through the summer months. I think this attack occurred in winter, early in the morning. Still, it was only meters from the beach.

I'm sure some ferndie fluffs see attacks like these as some sort of karmic retribution for all the human violence committed against the wild.

But for me it's more confirmation that nature sucks, and that wild animals should be cruelly killed, then eaten whenever possible.

Never thought I'd say this...
07.05.04 (8:58 pm)   [edit]
Even though I can't stand lefties generally and think that the Labor Party is crawling with some of the most deluded and malicious people I've ever met, I do feel a little bit sorry for Lacker Latham.

He is being self-indulgent about this media obsession with his past. To call a press conference to say "leave me alone" is pretty ironic. It's like the behaviour of movie stars. They are forever courting the press, yelling to the paparazzi, "Hey, I'm over here!" Then when they feel the need for privacy they complain they're being hounded!

That said, it's starting to get nasty. (And I'm not talking about the stuff about him biffing that oldster. Of course that is relevant to his capacity to lead and be statesmanlike. What if he becomes PM, then cracks under pressure in a meeting with Dubya, and floors the bloke? Yikes!) No, the really ugly stuff is between him and Gabrielle Gwyther. When a relationship breaks down it's truly devastating stuff for both parties - and anyone else who happens to be around at the time. And to have that rehashed publicly must be a nightmare.

It's all starting to look similar to what happened to Clinton. Sure, he could have nipped it all in the bud simply by doing an Arnie and 'fessing up. So he deserved to cop a load. But the way it went on and on was excessive.

As Larry Flynt - who should know - said at the time: "Everybody lies about sex." And they lie even more absurdly about love - usually to themselves.

And that's what we're seeing with Lacker and his ex. No one will ever know the complete truth on this one - least of all the two protagonists.

It sounds like he might have done some pretty callous things. But it would be naive in the extreme to assume that Ms Gwyther was completely blameless. She's clearly been in a vengeful mood for quite some time and has done a great deal of damage to him already. And it sounds like she's far from satisfied. So, if she's capable of that now, why assume she never was in the past?
